THEATRE DIRECTOR RADU AFRIM RETURNS TO THE HUNGARIAN THEATRE IN TIMISOARA
„Rabenthal", a text written by Jörg Graser, will be staged for the first time in Romania by the acclaimed Romanian director Radu Afrim, who thus marks his second collaboration with our theatre. The opening night is on December 21st 2017, at 19.00, in the theatre's Main Hall.

HIGHER TICKET PRICES STARTING JANUARY 6TH 2018
Tickets for the performances of the „Csiky Gergely" Hungarian State Theatre in Timișoara will be more expensive starting January 2018. For performances in the Main Hall, tickets will cost 24 lei/ 12 lei discounted for students and pensioners, (currently the price is 20 lei/10 lei with discount), while for the Studio Hall - 16 lei/8 lei (currently 12 lei/6 lei).

HUNGARIAN IN BELGRADE
Our coproduction with the Kosztolányi Dezső Theatre in Subotica, „Magyar/Hungarian”, directed by the highly appraised Urbán András, was performed at the Bitef Theatre in Belgrade on December 10th.

„SHAKESPEARE, SONNET 66” – THE MOST SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE IN 2017

The performance „Shakespeare, Sonnet 66", after William Shakespeare, was performed 13 times this year, participating in multiple festivals and winning the appraise of audiences and theatre professionals alike. Eleven months after the opening night, which was on January 11th 2017, we celebrate these awards with a final performance of the year.

"LET’S JUST NOT SIT IN THE DARK BUT REALLY BE THERE” - IN CONVERSATION WITH SZYMON ADAMCZAK
Szymon Adamczak (Poland) is active in the theatre world since 2011, working both in state theatres and on independent projects in Poland and internationally. His interests include new documentary theatre, strategies for performing arts and community art. He wrote and directed "Forbidden Books" (opening night: November 12, 2017), our theatre's coproduction with TESZT Festival, Temps d'Images Festival Cluj-Napoca, Colectiv A Association Cluj-Napoca, Adam Mickiewicz Institute Poland and the Paintbrush Factory, Cluj-Napoca.

STATEMENT ON SOLIDARITY

The Hungarian Theatre Union (MASZÍN), leaders of institutions, independent theatre artists, company leaders, and cultural managers express solidarity with our collegues from Miercurea Ciuc, as last week the Miercurea Ciuc Town Hall announced its intention to fire several employees of this theatre and join the Csíki Játékszín Theatre with Figura Studio in Gheorgheni into one institution.

We talked with theatre director Sardar Tagirovsky, whose performance "The Impromptu of Versailles or the Monkey House" after Molière, was selected for the National Theatre Festival, with performances on October 23rd and 24th 2017.

AWARDS FOR „SHAKESPEARE, SONNET 66” AT TWO FESTIVALS IN SERBIA
The jury of the Joakim InterFest International Festival in Kragujevac, Serbia, has given four awards to our theatre's „Shakespeare, Sonnet 66" directed by Kokan Mladenovic, and a few days later this performance won the Special Award in Vrsec, at the International Classical Theatre Festival "Theatre Autumn".
